Grandma Lucy’s Cat Treats
My cats’ favorite Grandma
For many of us thoughts and memories of our grandmothers invoke special, sentimental feelings. My grandmother was an amazing lady, and even though she died over twenty five years ago I still get emotional thinking about her!
I want to introduce you to my cats’ favorite Grandma: Grandma Lucy! Have you heard of her? Actually it’s a company called Grandma Lucy’s who makes all natural, freeze-dried pet food and treats. My cats go crazy for the cat treats!
How it all started
Like many other natural pet food companies, Grandma Lucy’s came to be out of a need to help a pet. Lucy, the family’s Cocker Spaniel, became a very picky eater and developed food allergies. Unsatisfied with products on the market today, the family started to create fresh, home cooked meals and treats that Lucy loved and thrived on. The natural progression led to wanting to share these products with other pet parents looking for high quality, human grade pet food. That was in 1999, and their philosophy hasn’t changed. According to their website,
It takes high quality ingredients to produce high quality pet food products which is why Grandma Lucy’s insists on personal contact with all of our suppliers and growers. All incoming meats, fruits, vegetables, etc. are required to meet strict Grandma Lucy’s specifications. Once the raw ingredients arrive in our Rancho Santa Margarita, California facility, expert care is applied to create any one of Grandma Lucy’s unique and healthy recipes. Skilled staff inspect all incoming and outgoing products for quality assurance. Our kitchen brings together state-of-the-art freeze-drying equipment, the highest-quality ingredients and skilled employees. Everyone at Grandma Lucy’s is dedicated to delivering quality pet food products. The end result is a full line of freeze-dried pet food and treats that are always superior in quality and taste.
Lots of options
Grandma Lucy’s cat treats are single ingredient treats–that’s it! Nothing added. They come in four flavors: chicken, liver, pork, and whitefish. My cats literally go crazy over the whitefish! We’ve tried chicken, too, and everyone gave it a paws up. If your cat is not familiar with freeze dried treats or food, crumbling the treats over your cat’s food is a great way to introduce it. Little by little you can incorporate raw, freeze dried food with your cat’s meals to provide a more balanced, biologically appropriate diet.
